You have probably heard that if you must color, color your hair before you are installed. Well personally, I think the most important issue is not timing but results....Know that if you color before or during the initial locking staging, this will prolong the locking process. Even worse, color is damaging to our hair...open or locked. With Sisterlocks, it causes shedding of the locks from the tip up. This is inevitable. It doesn't matter what brand you use. Even the Herbatints and Naturtints of the world which are less harmful causes shedding.
When you color your locks, the products softens your hair. Not to mention the conditioning you will need afterwards to treat colored hair. This softening causes the ends of your beautiful locks which were once solidified to open back up. What can you do???? Go back to the Sisterlocks Starter Shampoo to try to close those buds. I say if you must color.....color. But know that it is damaging.
